The Spekta Hybrid Screening we offer combines the best elements of Stochastic printing with those of the tried and true Conventional dot. All Spekta dots are arranged in FM (frequency modulated) patterns, which means randomly placed. This eliminates troublesome screening induced moireŽ patterns. The dots in the top 10% of highlights and the lowest 10% of shadows are fixed at a 20” (micron) dot size (about 1/3 the diameter of a human hair), which adds the Stochastic benefit of holding extreme detail in the lightest and darkest areas of your photos. The remaining dots use the variable size FM dots that allow finer colour control at the press, while not requiring ultra rigid press controls, which is one of the pitfalls of pure Stochastic printing. This technology lets us print the equivalent of a 400 line per inch halftone, providing a dramatic increase in the detail and realism of your photographic images, at no added cost.
